ALBUM REVIEW: Blasphamagoatachrist – Bestial Abominator

The second and final full length from bestial black death titans Blasphamagoatachrist. Out now via Nuclear War Now Productions. Much of the album material was written by the two deceased members; Sabbaoth and Virrugus, this final assault being an important closing chapter for their undying legacies!

Abhorrent riffing launches us intro a maelstrom of violence with demonic vocals and drumming in tow of the lethal guitars. With each militant stomp, the visceral nature of the genre is invoked by true masters of the black arts. This is clearly the authentic stuff, not some cheap imitation. Blending only the most blasphemous elements of black and death metal to conjure sonic warfare, the blitzkrieg of morbid mayhem takes no prisoners from its very earliest moments. Relentless is an understatement with the savagery of this album firing on all cylinders, crushing all who oppose true extremity with no remorse. Fans of Blasphemy, Antichrist and Goatpenis will of course be pleased to hear the influences of the members most well known works but this band is its own entity and demands respect as such. Having loved the demo and first record, I knew this was going to be a ruthless experience and I was right.

Something about this band that cannot be denied is the ability to play so hard and fast is insane. From the drumming to the guitars and bass through to the vocal delivery; everything is an animalistic, primitive and frenzied concoction of total evil. From those swaying grooves that are reminiscent of Beherit and Archgoat to the Latin-influences of band like Sarcófago and Vulcano and most of all, the Ross Bay Cult legends of Canada; this sound is not some niche within a niche but a statement encompassing the entirety of the worldwide metallic underground. Each venomous song an explosive testament to the passion of its key players, decades into their careers. If machine-gunning wimps and posers sonically is your idea of a good time, prepare to be flagellated by the bestial abominators!

The real sense of chaos and palpable hostility in this recording as every note lashes out with total force is magnificent. A triumph in taunting the holy and delivering corporeal punishment with militant precision to those which seek such an immensely aggressive listen. With an atmosphere of utter frenzied destructive mania soaked into the entire record, every track of turbulent vengeance can be felt through your entire body due to the unrelenting fervour every musician plays their role with. Until its closing moments, the band keeps you on your toes with an endless flow of volatility in both black metal and death metal form. Merging only the most sacrilegious and scornful ideas they can collect into nearly forty minutes, this record is an intense and unforgiving one that I am certain the true underground shall appreciate.

An everlasting spew of sulphuric hellfire, Blasphamagoatachrist unleash war metal supremacy for the last time; ensuring their short-lived career was only putting out the most high-quality and hostile opuses of blackened death metal might. A valuable final chapter for this entity, bowing out with total strength and power. This is an unmissable recording in the black / death metal genre for 2025.

Rating: 8 out of 10.
