ALBUM REVIEW: Naked Whipper – Chapel Defilement

30 years after their previous album, Naked Whipper are back with their sophomore record of bestial Black/Death Metal blasphemy. Out now via Iron Bonehead Productions.

A short introduction begins our unpleasant journey into bedlam before malicious riffs storm into life. Scathing old school stringed violence atop waves of malevolent blasting drums and bestial vocals all join in united force to deliver total unholy annihilation. There is a thrashing rage to the songs that really packs a punch while the devastating extremity is certainly felt across the board. Writhing in the gutters, their decayed brand of archaic metallic desecration is an abominable feast of pure intensity and rage. Each track is a rite of militant and belligerent ferocity that hits with the full force of the bands lengthy and cult career, uncompromising in every aspect. Evoking chaos and hatred in every second of ever-moving blast-beat domination, the guitar riffs remain gripping and the vocals have a strong presence throughout. No faltering from Naked Whipper!

This unending maelstrom of viciousness continues to pummel and violate from start to end with an energy that is sacrilegious and empowered to the fullest extent. Thirty years is a long time to wait, but Naked Whipper makes it feel like they never left with a superb continuation of their magnificent brand of sonic savagery. This return from such a cult name definitely honours their body of work, adding a superb new record to the underground which many likely never expected to hear but will certainly be ecstatic to. If hammering drums, evil riffs and bestial vocals is your thing; this is an unmissable opus of overkill heresy that will chew you up and spit you out. Invoke the demonic chaos of the abyss with this cult name and feel the power and might of true evil!

A truly destructive and unstoppable listen of relentless bestial Black Metal mastery. Fall victim to the Naked Whipper and feel their vengeful wrath.

Rating: 8 out of 10.
