Two of the best underground Blackened Speed Metal bands WRAITH and BASTARDIZER have teamed up to deliver a sonic onslaught of monolithic proportions. Out via Bonepick Records on June 22nd.
Wraith blister in with butchering riffs and crashing cymbals, setting off their half of the split with a bang. Catchy riffs packed with sleaze and hammering beats back up a spew of vicious howling vocals and overall we are delivered into an inferno of hellish Black-Speed Metal destruction. With two original songs and a venomous cover of GBH, Wraith are clearly on just as strong form as their last record “Absolute Power”, delving right back into the slaughterhouse of old school devastation. Blistering solos and visceral rhythms entwine to create a melodic, memorable and decimating slab of concrete riffing, blasting, snarling fury. Once again Wraith deliver killer, unfaltering Black-Speed mayhem of the highest order.
Bastardizer follow on with remarkable fluidity, not miss a beat. A nice “ough” is bellowed over barbaric riffs and punchy drums, giving us the same style of morbid speeding violence that Wraith showcased. Bastardizer have a slightly grittier sound but retain the same intoxicating catchiness and old school spirit in their blasphemous duo of songs. Thrashing on, we see a fantastically build performance that drives on full throttle with monstrous intensity and unrelenting musical onslaughts that will have all banging their heads to the Australian horde. Again, everything offered by the band is tight and blisteringly enjoyable, much like their last record “Dawn Of Domination”, closing the split with total carnage.
Wraith and Bastardizer might be the perfect pairing for Blackened Speed Metal, both bands being ones I am very familiar with and wholly enjoy. Together, these five tracks from two of the finest underground Metal merchants rampage forth with remarkable energy and aggression. Both bands bring something special to the table and leave a poisonous taste of maniacal Metal lingering on the tongue. A must listen for all Blackened Speed Metal lovers. -9/10
