Blackened Death Metallers SODOMISERY are back to follow their 2017 EP with a debut full length album. Set for release via Testimony Records on May 22nd.
Melodic guitars and pounding drums set off at a glorious pace before blastbeats, tremolo riffing and howled vocals screech to life with a bombastically savage performance. Packed with aggression and a “Reinkaos” era Dissection style groove to the melodics with plenty of battery from the drummer and relentless riffs backing up a slew of screams, this is a tight record, that is clear from very early on. With 1914 style melancholic Black Metal warfare coming through in their sound, Sodomisery certainly have an immensely intense blend of extremity to offer. Gorgeous solos add pristine melodic skills to the ravenous Blackened Death Metal while shimmering passages into destruction remain illuminated.
Ferociously brutal with an unsettlingly dark undertone hiding in the nuances of the record, while a more recognisable outer layer will certainly entice most Black and Death Metal fans, what lies beneath is far more impressive and will certain retain hardened Extreme Metallers attention. Truly impeccable musicianship gives a professional and seasoned feel to the album which is remarkably the first full length, something one wouldn’t guess from the marvellous execution of their songwriting, playing abilities and production level.
Crushing riffs and monstrous drums rampage forth alongside a ruthless vocal performance that altogether gives us a visceral Black-Death Metal assault packed with fantastic hooks, catchy elements and a really impactful sound. Punchy and meaty Death Metal entwined with ravenously cold, bleak Black Metal is what Sodomisery have to offer and they do a magnificent job of doing so, certainly a release that will appeal to most Metalheads with its icy storms of sonic warfare and instrumental battery.
A crushing and monumental debut album from a band that grips you with their wonderfully tight yet vicious Blackened Death Metal from start to end. Certainly a record filled with fulfilled potential and a massive sounding album to hopefully become an incredibly strong foundation for more to come. -8.5/10
