FLUIDS have built a name as one of the most grotesque Death Metal bands churning out filth tunes in the two years. Their new EP is out now via Maggot Stomp Records.
Weird ambience comes in with an unsettling synth, simple but effective alongside samples to really get the unpleasant feeling as we get a lo-fi Hip Hop style beat, certainly an interesting start for a Death Metal record. Noisy guitars crackle in with a thunderously pounding stomp of rancid Death Metal offal. Sewer-dwelling vocals and primal drums deliver further abrasive grime to the visceral assault in a rivetingly harsh manner. Do not expect easy listening Death Metal, this thing is only going to get harder, faster and more unpleasant, you have been warned.
Groove and hammered instrumentals convulse with total disharmony in a relentlessly unapproachable manner to truly create some uneasy sounds. Storming forth, these snapping bass lines cut through the slew of odious riffs and blastbeats to give this whiplash effect, similar to those of the vocals hooks. Ignorant and caveman-like certainly applies to the stupefying approach of the music, taking meaty and savage extremity into ridiculously caustic territories. Towards the end we even get some dynamic in the form of a monolithic Death-Doom track which is utterly obliterating with heaviness. A nice chance in pace from the more viscous, blasting brutality we have had up to this point.
Void of melody, progression or anything apart from thick, swampy caveman riffs and crushing sounds, Fluids are clearly not compromising for anyone. This EP is some of the most revoltingly harsh Death Metal alongside the likes of Pissgrave, Triumvir Foul and Ulcerate to be dropped like a rock through the skull of the underground recently. If you can withstand the raw, rasping and malignant spew of vomitous instrumentals and vocals in the most punishing vein, then you will be rewarded by fetid, putrid and disgusting Death Metal fits of joy. Otherwise, you might incur quite a headache. -7/10
