EP REVIEW: Blood Star – The Fear

The debut EP of BLOOD STAR is here, offering dark and spacious traditional Heavy Metal with a uniquely brooding and bewitching style. Set for release via Shadow Kingdom Records on May 29th.

Glorious riffs set off the storm of Heavy Metal as bass and drums thunder in with a mighty crash like lightning. Soaring vocals soon add melody to the powerful assault with a gorgeously tight performance from the whole band, delivering totally classic and memorable Heavy Metal brilliantly. The galloping drums and bass perfectly blend with the catchy groove of the guitars and emotive melodies of the vocals. A ferociously enticing sound for all fans of true, pure Heavy Metal.

Blood Star show exactly how to be heavy without the need for brutality or dissonance with an atmospherically brooding slab of excellence, these two tracks really do a profoundly wonderful job of nailing the 80s sound. Blistering solos complete the melodically charged assault with a beautifully to the point style of soloing before the stunning tracks continue to rampage onwards. Fans of Savage Master and Lady Beast will certainly rate Blood Star just as strongly thanks to their crushingly tight brand of Metal goodness.

Truly an impeccable and near flawless debut EP with chillingly dark Heavy Metal played marvellously in a catchy yet clearly passionate and genuine manner. The vocals add a touch of bands like The Devil’s Blood to a much more NWOBHM instrumental section which just hits all the right spots to my ear. Some of the best “NWOTHM” I have heard of recent. Do not miss out on Blood Star’s strikingly empowering debut EP. -10/10
