Belches of vile guitars and odious vocals of hammered drums take us right in with a sonic storm of rancid annihilation and some otherworldly soundscapes that generate a vicious blend of crushingly nasty Death Metal excellence. With a grimy production and rasps of meaty instrumentals vomiting forth some killer songwriting, Cerebral Rot clearly have not lost their touch at conjuring up sewer-dwelling filth in their recognisably hideous blend of extremities which gloriously soak you in fetid sounds of dripping guitars, rotten drums and ichorous vocals.
This new demo slays and is certainly fulfilling the task of getting me excited for the next record. A slab of unhinged, grooving, brutish and salivating Death Metal to drag you into the swirling stench of the bands new ideas. This whole demo stomps and crashes through grimace-inducing spewed music that is churned out effortlessly and while ferociously brutal, is not lacking atmospherics or skilful musicianship, rather developing a swampy ambience to the two blundering pieces of cavernous Death Metal puke. If you are not already familiar with the slimy sounds of Cerebral Rot, this is definitely worth checking out, if you already know them, then it should be no shock that this is some dirty and excellent material that develops on the putrid grime of the bands previous material. A magnificent, festering pair of tracks from one of the modern Death Metal underground’s most vile bands. -8.5/10
