ALBUM REVIEW: Nyogthaeblisz – Abrahamic Godhead Besieged By Adversarial Usurpation

NYOGTHAEBLISZ debut album was a hugely anticipated release at the end of December, I have decided to revisit this slab of Bestial Black Metal hatred for a review. Out now via Hells Headbangers.

Distorted noise drops us in with hideously disturbing soundscapes and sampling that unhinges you as you are violated with a delve into some of the most depravedly messed up musical extremity. Ferocious guitars and blasting drums set in the War Metal abrasiveness with full force. Howled maniacal vocals mix in with the visceral instrumentals to deliver a savagery that is unrivalled in intensity or all-out aggression, certainly some unholy blasphemous violence that Deiphago and Revenge fans will enjoy, blended with extra noisy and raw recording style that makes this music even more extreme (a feat many would find surreal). Static guitars churn out chaotic riffing over rapidly thundering drums and crashing cymbals with vocals that sound like tormented demons ripped out of their hellish homestead, crying out for Satan. While the harsh noise elements may be too caustic for some, the clear Black Metal drive at the heart of this dominating bombardment is decidedly enticing in its own right and keeps a focus for the release remaining in Heavy Metal territory, something I am grateful for. Plentiful distorted sections of misanthropic bile are belted out throughout the release, adding to the feeling that this is some kind of propaganda of total malevolent intent. While incredibly primitive, the riffs and blastbeats are precise and swathed in a disdainfully energetic performance that is utterly magnificent, the vocals being much more clear in the mix have the kind of vitriol in them that one could find from Conqueror or Black Witchery, so definitely some impeccable components. The band utilise this to their favour in making something so uniquely unpleasant and sonically barbaric, it feels like you shouldn’t even be listening to it, like a very tangible sense of being unsafe is here, which I find is conjured up in a phenomenally impressive manner. This record isn’t going to be for everyone, but if you want some Black Metal that will violate and decimate any sense of comfort you have, this is near-perfect. This is the single most punishing, caustic and abrasively disturbing release I have heard in quite some time for a plethora of reasons from its instrumental abuse, diabolically insane vocals, lo-fi production and harshly used noise and feedback. I feel this review can serve equally as a warning. -8/10
