Ossuary’s second demo has gained plentiful traction in the Death Metal underground and I felt as a fan of this music and Maggot Stomp Records, it was high time I revisited this release for a review.
Dark ambient keys start out with a foreboding sound to prepare us for the annihilation that lies ahead. Meaty guitars grind in with doomy riffs underlined by pounding bass drum hits and grisly bass which culminates in a slowed sway of putrid sonic malice. When the vocals join and the guitars transcend to tremolo picking with snappy drums, everything descends into a rivetingly chaotic and macabre blend of swampy Death Metal from the bowels of the genres guttural pioneers. With a lot of the Finnish style convulsive Doom Metal influence creeping into the storming mid-tempo grooves, there is a perfectly atmospheric side to this visceral hatred that spews forth so naturally and really does keep your attention tied to the monolithic riff-craft of the bands gruesome music. The churning of odious instrumental grime is consistently killer throughout with some fantastically varied vocals which range from lunatic screeches to lower growling vomits, matching up to the onslaught of pure devastation the guitars and drums provide, keeping you on your toes from start to end with a magnificent demo that shows a promising future for these Death Metal heavyweights. Prepare for death, for this release delivers buckets of musical offal in the most alluring possible manner for fans of old school Death Metal in its most disgustingly barbaric yet somewhat atmospheric form. -8/10
