The record churns in with upbeat, powerful and hugely melodic riffs and drums that have a gorgeous blend of Doom Metal elements such as Candlemass and My Dying Bride but with an eclectic addition of some monolithic NWOBHM style touches that makes it joyfully fun to listen to while sonically crushing with a ridiculous weight coming from the bass tone that drives the guitars and vocals forth alongside the drums into this powerful march akin to Grand Magus. The flawlessly pounded out release features gorgeously ambient interludes, ferociously tight hooks and inescapably enticing melodic grooves that will have you headbanging along in no time at all, especially when the blistering lead guitars make some glorious appearances before the titanous heaviness comes back to turn your skull to dust. While overall this is a powerfully upbeat and intense experience, this is some really emotive and melancholic parts that complete the record for me, not allowing it to become overly “fun” and grounding the musical prowess of Spirit Adrift. If you want the epic Doom Metal experience with crushingly tight musical ability and a monstrously large sounding production that is blisteringly upbeat while still devastatingly heavy, look no further, Spirit Adrift delivers one of the most accessibly pleasant albums of the genre that simply stomps out brilliance that glows with a warm booming instrumental tone entwined with energetically stunning vocals. -9/10
