DEMO REVIEW: Undeath – Sentient Autolysis

Here I review the 2nd demo from underground Death Metal madmen UNDEATH! Out now via Caligari Records.

The demo churns right into a cacophony of disgusting riffing, upbeat hammering drums and snarling savage vocal work. There is a raw yet concise production that really works beautifully with the convulsive instrumental spewing of the band whom chug through layers of gruesomely unnerving old school Death Metal with a diverse tempo mix, stunningly crafted riffs and an unrelenting forcefulness. With ferocious hooks that are as filthily crushing as they are enticingly catchy, UNDEATH do not skip a beat in making for a compact yet fulfilling experience of true depraved sonic decimation. A blistering assault of brutal drum work and riptide guitar onslaughts makes a perfectly meaty backing for the barrage of grisly vocal aggression we are given, while keeping touches of melody in the music there is a certain level of barbarity that is unwavering. The crusty breaks in the music only add to the monolithic momentum of truly devastating and hideously gnarly putridity, with a fierce songwriting style used to drag you into the odious realms of the band. This is some primitive caveman grooving maniacal stuff but balanced out with some nice doomy nuance for those who like a bit more diversity in their neanderthal chugging. This is a huge growth for the band, whom I think are a very promising act in the underground Death Metal scene, utterly obliterating without a dull moment. -8/10
