DEMO REVIEW: Dead Void – The Looming Spectre

Here I review the latest demo from  DEAD VOID who play a grotesque old school style of Death Metal infused with doomy elements. Out now via Dark Descent Records and Me Saco Un Ojo Records.

The album draws in with cavernous doomy guitar riffs, crashing drums and grisly roars from the vocalist. A raw and pungent production style allows the filthy grooves of the demo to emanate in the most putrid of manners, suiting the grim vibes of despair and desolation that the band conjures up so wonderfully. Picking up the pace we are thrown plenty of mid-tempo crawls that add to the nasty soundscape of the demo, truly giving off the odious reek of true old school Death Metal with all the bars met. If you enjoy music that crawls along like a deformed grotesquerie with grooves that convulsively discomfort you, then check out this 4 track slab of meaty grimness. There is a balance with some faster sections that rip away flesh with their barbaric assaults and searing whammy fuelled solos. A nice variety that is present while sticking to the more gruesome slower tempos on the most part. Utterly ferocious in the most foreboding of manners, definitely worth a listen. -8/10
