Although it was released quite some time ago I wish to revisit the release of Whipstriker’s “Merciless Artillery” which came out in 2018 on Hells Headbangers Records. I enjoyed this album so much I could not leave it behind. As with other reviews like this it will be more of a summary than a full write-up.
I bought the tape of this album from Hells Headbangers without listening to the full release first. When it showed up I was hit with wave after wave of smoothly grinding Speed Metal, blackened vocals, fantastic riffs and ferocious drums. This release while only around 30 minutes long will absolutely kill your teeth in within that time frame. A sensational mixture of old school Speed/Thrash/Black Metal that has such a nasty bite to it that gets you headbanging along to every beat. The music is also incredibly catchy, leaving it to remain in your head for days. Truly this is the best release from Whipstriker to this point for me due to its crushing combination of aggression but also how approachable it is too while ripping you apart. This album is almost damn solid from start to end, one that I regularly play and have done since buying it. A frenzied slice of sonic warfare that will captivate you from start to end. A glorious release from WHIPSTRIKER! -9/10
