ALBUM REVIEW: Sadistic Force – Midnight Assassin

Texas Blackened Speed Metal mob SADISTIC FORCE are back with their second album. Out via Goat Throne Records and Horror Pain Gore Death Productions.

Starting off with some seasonally spooky synths, soon brutish riffing and massive bass lines launch into a maelstrom of d-beat debauchery. Blasting sleazy fury forth with ease, Sadistic Force put their best foot forward with a tight blend of melodic and menacing Heavy Metal that has a timeless and anthemic feeling yet retaining that extreme edge. The hammering percussion and endless stream of killer riffs and howling vocals certainly ensures you will be gripped at first listen, with plenty of excitement abound. Much like the rhythmic onslaught, the solos have a sleazy attack with often bluesy pentatonics being hit without mercy. “Midnight Assassin” is off to a murderous start!

Ripping onwards, every aggressive moment is packed with adrenaline and a venomous energy that (having seen the band) translates gloriously live, with this new material certain to be popular in the future gigging arsenal. Barrelling from punky whiplash hooks to pure metallic force, there is so much attitude on this record that is wicked to witness as the band strut from more classic elements to pure extremity with ease. The title track is probably the best example as all of these touches are incorporated into the single piece alone. That said, the context of the record gives it an even more energetic feel that enhances the experience. Either way, Sadistic Force deliver anthemic evil consistently and do not seem to be dropping the ball…

Surging into the later moments, the wolven howls and equally daunting instrumentation do not relent. Offering only onslaughts of pure barbarity that will send any banger into frenzy while holding on to the catchy flare that will keep you coming back for more. As things grind to a halt, the maniacal trio certainly don’t fizzle out, remaining mental to the end. If you love bands like Hellripper, Bastardizer, Wraith, Bewitcher and so on, this record will no doubt having you salivating for its sadistic sorcery. Fun, frantic and furious, Sadistic Force have triumphed again.

Black-Speed Metal is one of those genres where it is easy to become very one-dimensional. Thankfully there is variation showcased here. Sadistic Force’s new offering is a worthy addition to this still rapidly growing legion and another strong cut from the band.
