SOLICITOR have been blazing a trail of true Heavy/Speed Metal carnage consistently since they burst into the underground. A brand new EP, savage as ever has been unleashed by Gates Of Hell Records, let’s do this!
Strange Sci-Fi sounds fill the air with an otherworldly and eerie atmosphere before soaring guitars open the pits of hell with melodic and graceful leads. Quickly developing into a barrage of crashing drums and razor-sharp riffing, the instantly vicious and contagious excellence of Solicitor makes itself heard. Amy’s savage vocal delivery is both haunting and ruthless while the pummelling instrumental fury and crushing songwriting carries the soaring wails perfectly. This is a band who continue to work as a tight unit without compressing any of the character out of their sound which may be old-school but sure isn’t ripped off from any of the forebears. If you gave early Helloween or Running Wild an injection of Chastain then the delirium of having not slept for days, you might get a rough idea of Solicitor’s powerful sound, but better yet, check it out for yourself and be blown away by a maelstrom of furious Heavy Metal glory.
Naturally with the high-octane approach to this speeding cacophony, there is plenty of bite and fiery musicianship to keep even the shortest attention span fixated through 12 minutes, an unusually long duo of songs, which develop through waves of serenity and sadistic destruction. Clunky bass, monstrous soloing, skull-cracking drums hits and piercingly sharp vocals all maintain the traditions of old while utilising their wickedly clever songwriting talents to give us a refreshing, new experience that hits like lightning to the heart and takes no prisoners. Absolutely stellar.
