ALBUM REVIEW: Caveman Cult – Blood And Extinction

On October 1st American War Metallers CAVEMAN CULT unleash their 2nd album via Nuclear War Now Productions.

Distorted guitars draw in the album with unsettling noise and reverberate crackling. The hammering of blast beats and bestial riffs take us right into a savage avalanche of malevolent Black-Death Metal carnage. The vocals reminiscent of Black Witchery’s Impurath and the instrumentals not dissimilar either, this is pure primal hatred. Noisy guitar solos complete the old school War Metal feel with its raw production and overall chaotic feel, certainly bringing Blasphemy to mind. With such a maniacally violent sound and primitive delivery of it, there is naturally limitations to the musical style that peaked with its originators of mostly Canadian or South American origin. There is still value in this music and still so much ferocity from the select bands honouring the War Metal sound, but in terms of originality there is very little one can say. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing at all, just an important thing to mention when reviewing music such as this. In terms of passionate, credible and fiery delivery, one cannot flaw Caveman Cult and their diabolical hammering of the anvil. This is clearly intentionally regressive and meant as a continuation on the legacy of War Metal which is achieves brilliantly in all of its scathing triumph. The sadistic and potent ferociousness of this album in its mere 20 minutes of life is unrelenting, unapologetic and irrefutably old school in all of its malicious decimation.

Caveman Cult offer more demonic artillery with their sonic upheaval of all things holy. A pure and unfiltered stream of total animalistic aggression that storms forth with unbridled barbarity. Grinding, twisting and convulsing with a feral need to express such hatred, the album flies past in a flurry of intense mania of rabid sound. Absolutely vitriolic excellence. My only down-marking is based on premises of uniqueness as part of my criteria, but if you seek truly devastating War Metal, absolutely do not miss this beast of pure hellfire.
