Danish Death Metal cult SULPHUROUS have returned from the abyss with a new 7″ EP to satisfy the cravings of the underground in anticipation of their 2nd album. Out on March 15th via Me Saco Un Ojo Records.
Feedback subsides into lurking monstrosities as convulsive guitars blend a cascade of dissonant brutality with venomously incanted vocals atop a mountainous layer of pulverising drums. Within seconds the abyssal Death Metal shows the highest of quality in its low-tempo crawl through charnel realms. With a murky mix to display this rotten conjuration of extremity, there is no denying the infectiously dark mood that is brooding and contemplative yet savage in execution. The lead work is equally as eerie as the rest of the sound, offering a ruthlessly morbid feeling to the rhythmic spew of cavernous death worship. Both of the two tracks are superbly grim and unrelenting in their macabre energies. The first is more of a slow crawl while the second ramps up on bestial rage, opening with some blistering lead riffs and whammy dives before descending into carnage. Though still retaining that doomy and blackened edge on their Death Metal, the ferociously untamed aggression seeps forth with even more vitriol as the EP progresses.
Two fresh and filthy offerings of supreme Danish Death Metal which is cavernous and utterly malignant throughout. Gloriously executed and murky sounds from the depths of an unknown realm, presented with a mighty and unwieldy performance of obscurity and mystique.
