ALBUM REVIEW: Bloodsoaked Necrovoid – Expelled into the Unknown Depths of the Unfathomable

Costa Rica’s cult Blackened Death-Doom Metal extremists BLOODSOAKED NECROVOID have reached cult status with their two demos. They now have a full length album ready to expel into the void. Out via Iron Bonehead Productions on November 6th.

Eerie ambience sets in with a dark mood, leaving plentiful headroom to build upon. Drawn out riffs add a disturbing and foreboding impact as subtle cymbals roll in, this is going to be an intense listen. Venomously growled vocals add guttural grotesqueries to the primitive instrumentals, further expanding on the simple yet daunting soundscapes. Convulsive riffs and drums spew forth alongside the vocals, hitting with ferocity and depraved otherworldliness, giving something of a meditative quality to the music. The cosmic bellowing of Bloodsoaked Necrovoid definitely follows gloriously from their phenomenal demos, while certainly have a more well-rounded delivery that is as haunting as it is crushing and despairing. Hammering drums and spectral guitars erupt in magnificent fashion to sink us into the unfathomably depths referred to in the title. It is clear to me, we are in for a claustrophobic treat of devilishly evil Death Metal excellence.

Though the execution has a primal aggression to it, the introspective soundscapes generated by the whole band are fuelled by warped visions that manifest as malevolent sonic conjurations of the strongest proportions. Like a Lovecraftian nightmare, this is as confusing as it is great, something I mean as a complement due to the swirling murk of dissonant riffs and restless drums backing up a slew of macabre vocals. Eerie lead work adds further melancholy to the doomy side of the music while the Death Metal focus is not shifted asunder, allowing for a devastatingly heavy and cerebral experience to occur. Viscerally energetic and forever evolving through twisted, charnel passages of despairingly dark extremity, there is no light to be found on this bleak, monstrous and vanquishing record.

A beastly array of fantastic ideas come into fruition on this album that shows the demos indeed proved prophetic in their display of something truly abominable and monolithic. Cosmic ambience is deployed occasionally to further the outer-one summoning audio to far more atmospheric territories, while the mind-elevating Death Metal never strays far away, consistently returning for an assault of the senses that imposes its dread-tinged malice upon you. Unhinged does not even cover quite how uniquely estranged this music is, but be assured that there is not another band offering these malignant riffs, decomposing vocals and stampeding drums quite like it. This is the kind of Death Metal that was vomited from the depths, abducted to the cosmos and then dropped onto humanity without remorse. Do not take it lightly.

A truly immaculate offering of putridly concocted cosmic Death Metal with wretchedly abyssal atmospherics backed up by an unending cascade of resplendently hellish musicianship. Allow the necrosis of your mind to begin and be prepared but also afraid. Bloodsoaked Necrovoid have launched us into a realm from which we shall not return. -9/10
