EP REVIEW: Disburial – Vermin Void

Ecuadorian Death Metallers DISBURIAL are back with their second EP. Set for release on June 26th via Burning Coffin Records and The Horde Of Nebulah.

Eerie sampling brings in a brooding and disturbing sense of dread to introduce the Death Metal onslaught ahead. Chunky riffs and storming drums pummel into fruition with a claustrophobic and grinding assault of visceral extremity. Gruesome vocals complete the raw mix with equal aggression as the convulsing instrumentals. There is a strong resemblance to bands like Cianide in this groovy yet punishing music, something that adds to the ferocious blasting rampage with textured hooks. Doomy sections give a fantastically atmospheric flourish to the violent Death Metal spew, accentuating the darkness and creepy vibrancy of the EP to grandiose new levels. This is some intense material.

The slow tempo crawling hammers on with a masterfully malignant feeling of pungent and foreboding terror coming through from the spew of riffs, pounding drums and vomitous vocals. Meaty and packing a dense punch, this is some primitive and savage Death Metal that showcases the same style of brutality we know and love from bands like Undergang and more so the aforementioned Cianide. With a swinging groove to give a catchy taste to the rotten Death Metal assault, this EP will devastate those who witness its pulverising and rancid tracks. Aside from the introduction we get four tracks, each of which is a furiously heavy affair. Morbid and dark, this grotesque EP is certainly a killer one.

Disburial are as underground as it gets, bringing the odious old school Death Metal a new EP of monolithic grooves, doomy atmospherics and gut-busting assaults. Raw, fetid and fuelled by tight musicianship, this material will certainly win over the fans of more underground Death Metal with a more primal feel. -8/10
