DEMO REVIEW: Ulcerot – Necuratu

Featuring members of Undergang, Pissgrave, Deiquisitor and all of said members being known for having multiple projects, ULCEROT is here to deliver some filthy grinding Death Metal delights. Out now via Extremely Rotten Productions and Me Saco Un Ojo Records.

Gritty guitars ferocious set in with an unholy assault of blastbeats quickly backing up the grotesque onslaught. A blend of sickeningly twisted barking and David’s more well established swampy grunts are utilised alongside the barbaric instrumentals to make something really impactful, destructive and tormenting. This demo is utterly unforgiving with so much forceful ichorous slime being hurled at the listener in only eight minutes over two songs. The guitar riffs and primitive but memorable on the most part with blisteringly brutal rhythmic discourse being offered consistently. The drums also are consistent with a hellish and ferocious display of blastbeats but also some slower work on the second track at least in terms of tempo. On the subject of the second track it is less abrasive and more fine-tuned, going for a equally barbaric but more meaty and groovy sound. There is even a Death-Doom style break which is really killer, excellently moody and punchy riffs then build into a Bolt Thrower style crawl through the Death Metal battlefield back into the fetid swamp. This demo is very different from many of the individuals more established bands, but still recognisably involves them, possibly Pissgrave being the closest comparable band to this one. Really enjoyable material and definitely interesting to hear these artists work together on a totally insane demo like this. Listen at your own peril, be prepared for these two tracks to deliver you into festering obliteration. -8/10
