GIG REVIEW: Black Witchery @ The Boston Music Room (6th December 2019)

First Blasphemy, then Archgoat, now Black Witchery. What a ridiculously good week this has been! With support from Necromaniac and Slimelord, this promises to be the third of four crushing gigs this week. Presented by Isengard Promotions.

First up, UK newcomers Slimelord deliver their dirty blend of Death Doom and despite some technical difficulties soldiered through the set and certainly redeemed things with their swampy soundscapes and spectral spew!

Necromaniac up the ante with a devastating blend of black-thrash-death assaults. With a fiercely cutting bass tone, savage riffs and demonic vocals backed up by drum battery, this certainly feels more like we are leading up to Black Witchery.

The anticipation for Black Witchery is huge in a small venue filled with die hard War Metal fans and they deliver a guttural storm of barbarity for a short setlist but the precision and drive of their aggressive Black Metal is unrivalled. Such an unholy sound and intense performance is perfect to follow Blasphemy and Archgoat last weekend and this show did not disappoint. Impvrath and co fire some true malevolence into the ears of London for the first time in quite some years but do so with dominating energy and no holds barred.
