Here I am reviewing (slightly belated, thus in summary), the new full length from Corpsessed which is out on Dark Descent Records.
Corpsessed bring the darkness with this punishing album that packs a punch with dungeon-lurking grooves, odiously harsh vocals, grinding riffs and cacophonous drum patterns. The storming album is filled with ferocious old school Death Metal songwriting coupled with doomy atmospherics. Throughout the release we are thrown intensely bludgeoning material that convulses through layers of punishing darkness. This, to me, is some of the strongest Death Doom I have heard for many years, that is the reason I decided to revisit it for review. While the album follows a fairly set formula there is still a sense of variation that adds to the blunt force of the instrumentals and vocals alike whilst staying fresh. A total barrage of extremely menacing and hideously heavy music that is totally crushing, savage and brooding with hatred. Corpsessed have absolutely nailed it. A must listen ! -9.5/10
