A festive review special today of the new ACID WITCH EP! Time to get gruesome!
- Black Christmas begins with some eerie sampling that is a nice touch before going into groovy doom riffs with twinkling keyboards. The crushing guitars and pounding drums are executed in true Acid Witch style but the vocals seem to have a more blackened touch to them than usual but sound totally killer and make total sense with the song title and themes. Such a great xmas hit from Acid Witch that is better than any festive bollocks everyone else will be tormenting us Metalheads with!
- Christmas Evil (You Better Watch Out!) starts off with typical Horror movie sound effects and samples that Acid Witch have used supremely throughout their career, although this time of course with a festive touch but still that true 80s feel to it. The punishing riffs and screamed vocals with simpler drums soon drive right into you with total force and groove that is just filled with impact. While being pretty fun and comedic the music itself is absolutely awesome without feeling like any kind of parody or cop-out. Some truly high-quality material as we would expect from such an excellent band. Another fantastic song!
Groove-Laden-Doom festivities are what we need, Acid Witch deliver the goods as always with this absolutely crushing new 2 track EP, excellent material and hopefully a new album won’t be too far away! -8.5/10
