Some new Brutal Death Metal here for review!
- Into Eldritch Annihilation kicks straight into the filthy, low tuned Death Metal mayhem, with some awesome sampling used over the discordant guitars. An awesome little intro.
- Despairing Lifes Unbind By An Odious Sacrifice blasts drum attack with great snare sound, slamming guitar/bass and hideous vocals. It sounds really nasty, in the best possible way. There is nothing in this song that doesn’t scream aggression from the pounding drums, chugging guitars to the grunted, tormented vocals. The riffs are really heavy and varied which is a good touch. A great track to begin the madness.
- Subjugation Of Relentless Suffering continues pretty much straight from the last song, the riffs in this one have a nice convulsive groove to them which sounds really dark. The drum battery has been very consistent so far and the vocals have been too. The fast-paced yet precise style of the music is really well written and played.
- Human Alignment Into Fiendish Carnage attack us without warning once more, the unrelenting force of the drums blasting over waves of menacing riffs and gnarly vocals sounds epic. If you like more Deathgrind and frantic modern Death Metal, this song is the one I would advise to check out first, track 2 for the more esoterically inclined to “Slam”. The sheer battery alone of this stuff is really awesome and the main thing that attracts me to it, and the lack of slow repetitive breakdowns that every band uses. The riffs with tons of harmonics remind me of the band Malignancy which I really enjoy, the more slam bits are slightly predictable but otherwise another fantastic song.
- Ravenous Vermin opens with some sampling that breaks things briefly before descending back into yet more waves of ferocious Death Metal assault. There is tons of speed, sludgy riffs and gruesome vocals. This song is my favourite simply due to the more unique and dragging feel of it that just sounds awesome, just pure attack. The use of a more chime sounding cymbal sounds really bright in contrast to the catatonically heavy music underneath it, great stuff!
- Abominable Extermination Through Uncanny Passages is the final track, and it fills the closing role with more technical but still just as barraging noise. There is nothing pretty or overproduced about this which I like. While the drums throughout the EP have been a little too loud for my preference, everything is well written and played and sounds absolutely killer and while I prefer more filthy old school Death Metal, some Brutal Death Metal I adore and this is certainly in the better end of the spectrum as opposed to the more generic repetitive “Slam”, there seems to be an abundance of, some of which is awesome (but a lot is not to my own taste). So kudos to the band for having a more humble approach to the music. Awesome final track and good work overall!
Set aside the fact that this is a solo project, it has the attack of a full band. The mix is a little rough around the edges but the songs are brutal as hell. Some great material, if you like Brutal Death Metal this is certainly worth giving a listen to, for those who prefer a more old school approach maybe not. But for what this is, it is awesome, really enjoyed listening to it personally! The riffs are excellent, the drumming is solid, and the vocals guttural. The songs may not vary a great deal, but all come together very nicely. -7/10
