Here is a review of Brutal / Technical Death Metallers UNBIRTH’s new album!
1. Tumults of Collective Anguishes opens with some nice futuristic synths and samples. It creates a really cool atmosphere. The music itself as promised is both brutal and technical, a really nice blend with some killer riffing and drums. The vocals sound really nice and evil. The solo is frantically awesome and features lovely use of a whammy dive bomb, something I’ve always loved. A good start, hopefully the album continues in this great vein.
2. Immaculate Consumption continues the headbang worthy madness really nicely. The really immense songwriting and structures topped with guttural vocals reminds me of Aborted, and sounds absolutely amazing. The technicality of the track is brilliant and has a really tight mix to it.
3. Fleshforged Columns of Deceit brings a third round of attack, this time introduced with lower tremolo picked riffs that sound insanely daunting. Clearly the band members are all very talented and the timing of the track comes out perfectly. A really dark track full of insanely heavy parts but also more atmosphere too.
4. Compulsory Painsplurge has a menacingly speedy beginning and awesome breaks too. It continues in the fast-paced assault of the previous tracks really nicely but with a more double bass focused drum attack and some nice slams thrown in. The song is sure to start a good Mosh Pit live and it is just heavy as hell.
5. Incitements from a Neglected Deity brings more slams and headbang worthy riffing. The slower tempo adds a nice depth to the album for sure. The songs so far are all really well written and intricate but also damn brutal. This song has a more Cannibal Corpse feel to it than others but is in no way old school, very modern Death Metal that is very well executed.
6. Cruciferous Ordeal kicks in with awesome bass guitar and blasting drums, which sounds great. The riffs are catchy and technical and the song is pretty enjoyable overall with tons more brutality and technical guitars.
7. Abiuration Untold once again needs no introduction and lets the heaviness do the speaking. The vocals sound really great with wicked pig squeals on this track and the song kind of surges through waves of super fast riffs and blast beats.
8. Imperative Murderous Observations offers mixed paced music, which adds a certain interesting aspect to the music, to begin. The ensuing song is frantic and tormented with tons more tech oriented riffs.
9. Procreauthanasia has a slightly more melodic and less chaotic feel to it than other songs and still stays with the ultra speedy pace set. This music is clearly written to be both incredibly brutal and unforgiving and does so very well. I really enjoyed this track and would say it is the best to get an idea of what the band have to offer. The ending of this song is just awesome as well.
10. Unapologetic Mass Hindrances closes things with even more great riffs, brutal vocals and assaulting drums. The songs may not vary a great deal on this album but you get exactly what is promised, brutal and technical Death Metal that is very well performed and fused together. A cool closing track with really good sampling to end it.
If you enjoy Malignancy, Decapitated, Dying Fetus and other similar bands this album offers a gorgeous blend of slamming brutality with technical and intricate musicianship topped off with filthy guttural vocals. -7/10
