Silesian evil metallic savages Sexmag recently unleashed their debut full length “Sexorcyzm“. Alongside a supreme EP and some demos, their discography is total cult mania! Let’s talk to these barbarians about their unholy sonic onslaught.
1. Greetings Sexmag, thanks for responding! Please introduce your band to the readers of this sadistik print!
Hailz Jørgen! We are Sexmag and we fuck dirty corpses exclusively. Our drive for satisfy our lust with licking rotten Mary’s ass and eat Jesus’ corpse decay beyond recognition is disgusting so is our music.
2. Before we get onto your music, set the scene; what bands and other things inspired Sexmag? This can be music or other things, any insight into concocting these diabolical songs!
Our only inspiration is worship ancient Metallic cult and unlimited pure hatred for all false prophecy created in the desert.
3. Travelling back in time, you started as one should with a demo tape. How was this recorded and are you happy with it?
The first demo was made in 2019 by the two founders of Sexmag – Hellslaughter (guitar) and Lord Violator (vocals, drums). Those two filthy animals had a garage in the middle of a housing estate and created the first Sexmag riffs and screams there. This demo is just a rehearsal recorded primitively in the basement of Devilpriest bassist. Still, I think it’s full of very good riffs and compositions. Wild and aggressive. We used only one track from this demo, “Nagrobek Kurtyzany” (eng. “Courtesan’s Tombstone”), and re-recorded it for the “Sex Metal” EP one year later. On that recording I was doing vocals, so the demo is the only material where you can hear Lord Violator’s vocals in Sexmag. It was released in two editions by our own label “Dziadostwo”: a white edition (lim. 20) and a red edition (lim. 20), and was mostly given away to friends and random people who looked dirty enough to ever listen to it.
4. 2021 saw your “Sex Metal” mini-LP which was well-received in underground circles. What inspired the themes on this record, how was it recorded and again; are you guys pleased with the outcome?
When we recorded “Sex Metal,” we had very little knowledge of how to do it. Neither did we have any ambitions to make it sound super listenable. We just had material prepared in the garage I mentioned before and wanted to record it, and then maybe play some underground gigs and get drunk. When we came to Warsaw on the day of the recordings, we already started drinking and doing speed on the train. On site, when we arrived, it turned out that our friend who was supposed to record it had some personal problems and that we could start another day. He only let us in to prepare, rehearse, and sleep in the place where we were supposed to record. We drank, listened to Metal, and did speed the whole night, so no sleep at all.
The next day we recorded “Sex Metal” -the instruments were recorded in 2-3 hours and the vocals in 0.5 h (so basically in one go). I don’t remember anything from it. Then we went home by train again. It turned out that the EP had unexpectedly very good feedback from the underground and, long story short, we got a deal with Dying Victims.
5. In 2022 we got a three track demo, “Żelazna dziewica”. How come you went back to demo tapes? I really enjoy this release, it sort of bridges the gap between the MLP and the debut LP. Does this hold up as an important part of the band’s discography?
In my opinion, this demo was pretty important for all of us. Maybe because it was supposed to be a demo for a full-length album, where we wanted to tell a whole story like on King Diamond albums. And maybe because it was the last recording of the so-called first Sexmag line-up. After this demo, 50% of Sexmag left the band- Hellslaughter (guitar) and Golem (bass). They probably didn’t have that much time to play live shows and lost interest in continuing.
We recorded it in our rehearsal room, but on professional gear. Personally, I think those compositions were very, very good, and I regret that we had to leave them behind. After their departure, me and Lord Violator were in a very bad position to continue. Luckily, our good friend and one of the best guitarists we know, Maniac (ex-Black Hosts), stepped up and joined us. With him, we got the power to continue.
So “Żelazna Dziewica” is important in the context of changes, but we left that behind and looked into the future with a new, stronger, and motivated line-up.
6. Before we talk about your current record, can you recommend some underground bands both Polish or overseas that you maniacs enjoy? Or are you strictly listening to old releases, you can recommend some obscure gems of the past too…
We listen to both new and old releases. Of course, in the dark past there is still a lot of quality stuff to discover, so probably more digging into the past. From the new stuff, I really enjoyed Abhorration “Demonolatry” and “After Winter Comes War” – I listen to it very often and I think it’s one of the best underground spawns of recent years. I also listened very often to the Black Sword Thunder Attack album, probably my favourite from 2025. I’ve also listened very often to the new Hexecutor album, which is super powerful in my opinion.
From the Polish underground, I think the new album by the doom metal band Metallus is very good (“We’re All Doomed”). I enjoy listening to it very much (the first album, “Funeral of the Sun,” is also very good). From heavy metal, the new album by Aquilla is great in my opinion. Our friends from Nekkrolust made a great debut album (“Hate and Kill,” in my opinion strongly influenced by Nifelheim). I wait for Torpor album – this is going to be total banger believe me, same as Bestiality – they are working on new material after 8 years of being dead and cold.
From the dark past of Polish Metal (I won’t mention stuff you probably know, like Kat, Magnus, Turbo, Dragon, etc.) – check out the first Wilczy Pajak first LP and Alastor “Syndroms of the Cities,” very good thrash, plus the Exorcist demo “Voices from the Graves,” which was a very big inspiration for Sexmag.
7. “Sexorcyzm”, your debut full length album, was released by Dying Victims Productions in 2025. How has the reception been and has working with this label again been good for you guys? Most bands I speak to that have released with DVP have been very happy with Florian and his work.
Florian is the guy who understands our vision very well and has supported us almost from the beginning. I think his work is really huge for European underground bands and for the promotion of our metallic culture. We are very happy being on Dying Victims, and we hope this pact will continue.
8. Your lyrics are in Polish, your native tongue, which is really cool. But for those of us who do not speak it, can you enlighten us on the themes, narratives and meanings of your words? Also, what made you choose to keep the mother tongue instead of English? I personally think it’s more interesting when bands do this.
I really like it when bands use their own language in metal. It was pretty common in the 80s. Some Polish bands had two versions of the same album – English and Polish (for example Kat, Turbo, Dragon) and honestly, I think the Polish versions are better. You can feel that it comes more naturally, and the vocalist doesn’t struggle with a language he probably didn’t understand back then.
In the ’80s there was a lot of this here, behind the Iron Curtain. Bands like Torr, Arakain, Master’s Hammer, Pokolgép, Aria, Fantom, Credo – all of them sound great. In the West or the North there were also great bands singing in their native languages. So I think the main thing is that you can’t make big success in your native language (or it’s just harder), so bands choose English. The truth is that English always sounds good, and lyrics in English always sound clever, even if they are stupid as fuck.
Our lyrics are just a disgusting piece of medieval, tortured, and raped shit, so if you like, you can easily translate them nowadays – but I don’t recommend it.
9. Sexmag has played some cool shows and festivals by now, I really enjoyed the Thrash Nightmare set in 2023 in Pisek, Czechia. Which shows have been your favourite and can you tell us some stories of mayhem from the road?
We had many great shows, even if we are far from being perfect musicians – the maniacs under the stage always deliver and drive us crazy. This show at Thrash Nightmare was a pleasure, and the people were insane! I think one of our best shows was at the Black Silesia Festival in Poland. We didn’t perform on the main stage, but instead we made a special show on a small tower nearby.
We had a privileged position, because the owner of Black Silesia played bass in Sexmag, so he agreed to make a second stage – a second backup in the middle of nowhere – just to play a wild show. To enter this tower, you had to cross a bridge where we placed burning torches and burning crosses to let people know that something was going to happen there. This show was a surprise for the end of the festival.
It was at midnight, and we expected maybe 80 people to come (the place had space for a maximum of 100), but more than 200, maybe even 300 people showed up. People were standing on the walls, on the roofs, falling from the roofs – total chaos and destruction. In the middle of the show, security came and told us we had to finish because the tower might collapse and kill people, but we told them to fuck off and continued. It was crazy, and a lot of people told me afterward that it was a beautiful near-death experience and a black mass they will remember forever.
Memories from the road are mostly gas station toilets and sleeping under tables.
10. You guys have had killer artwork on all your releases, especially the new record with some amazing work from Maegan LeMay. Can you give us some words about your various album/EP/demo covers and what they represent for the band?
Indeed, I think Maegan LeMay is doing beautiful art. She made great cover art for Sphinx, Cruel Force, and Phantom (Mex) – all of them very, very good and full of oldschool metal spirit. The new Cruel Force cover art (announced two days ago) for the 4th album “Haneda” is awesome.
About Sexmag – we just sent Maegan a very primitive sketch of what we expected from the cover, and she turned it into something absolutely awesome.
Previous Sexmag cover arts:
The demo “Nagrobek Kurtyzany” was done in the vein of old Swedish death metal demos – drawn by our former guitarist Hellslaughter.
The “Sex Metal” EP cover was stolen and repainted in good resolution by our friend. It was taken from an old Italian soft porn erotic comic book. We just liked that picture, as it resonated with the themes on “Sex Metal”: a cold medieval dungeon, torture, a naked body without a soul, a coffin.
The demo “Żelazna Dziewica” – “Żelazna Dziewica” in Polish means Iron Maiden. We asked our friend and very talented artist Leszek from the “Oldschool Metal Maniac” magazine to paint it. On the cover, the Iron Maiden is closed, but when you open the insert, it opens and shows the beauty inside her.
11. Last words are yours savages. Warn us of what is coming next or say your final blasphemies here!
Hail to all Metal Maniacs who have supported Sexmag’s curse through the years. We hope to play in the UK one day and deliver death and destruction to your country. 2026 will be very intense with shows, so beware, you cunts!
